I have a 1099-B, but I cannot determine short or long term covered basis. The section title only says "Summary of Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions"

If there are dates of purchase and sale then you have the info you need ... one year or less is short term.

Did the statement have any codes ? Call your broker for help in understanding your paperwork.

Yes, the date of sale is 5/2021 and the transaction description says "Merger", but I don't see any codes.

I don't have a Form 8949 for this exchange.
