Question

I live in Maryland but own a home in Virginia. I do not rent out the property. How do I file the 1098 for the home in Virginia?

The mortgage interest is not deductible.

The home in VA would be considered a second home. The property tax would go on schedule A along with your MD property tax.

Here are the full instructions for Schedule A., interest begins on page A8. You may have an exception to the rule, so please check.
