Question

I'm a US resident with an account in my home country. I have investments in a debt mutual fund with no transactions in 2020, so no capital gains. Should I report this?

I opened the account in January 2020 and purchased fund shares. I haven't touched them, so I haven't received any capital gains. The total of the account does exceed the $100,000 threshold.  Even though I didn't get any capital gains, I did get taxed for my investment. What and how should I report this?

If you had no income off the account (interest/dividends/cap gains/losses) then you have nothing to report on an income tax return.
