I need to remove that I paid rent in the year, I have a form I can’t complete that won’t let me

As there is no rent related tax benefit at the federal level, I believe you are referring to a state related matter.  To resolve the issue, you can simply remove the form from the program.  Here are the steps:

1.  Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off

2.  Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow

3.  Select Tools

4.  Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form

5.  Select Delete next to the state form about the rent and Continue with My Return

Many states provide tax breaks to renters who meet certain criteria, such as those who are 65 years or older or are disabled. Several states also provide tax relief for renters who don’t meet age or disability criteria.
