Question

I own a rental in Michigan, but took a loss on it this year (and don't live in MI right now). Do I need to file MI state taxes?

Hi yall, I don't currently live in MI, but I own a home there. This year, I had net negative real estate income (some rent, but less than expenses+depreciation) on the house.

TurboTax charges $45 extra to add a second state. Do I need to file in MI if I had no net income (since I *did* collect rent from someone there)?

Thanks!

You should file a Michigan return.
