I owned rental property in another state. do i have to pay income tax in that state? I reported this income in the state I live in.

Rental property is in California, state of residence Utah

You would file a resident CA return and a non resident UT return.  One of the states should give credit for taxes paid to the other, I'm not sure of the relationship between UT and CA, so I'm not sure which state gives the credit.
