Consequently I am told to make estimated payments for next year but my income will go down considerably.  Can I adjust the estimated payments?

The estimated tax vouchers are printed out for your convenience only. They are not sent to the IRS.

If you estimate that your 2022 income will be lower than in 2021, feel free to adjust the amounts. You can cross out the amounts and write in the amounts you wish to pay at each installment.
