Question

I received 2 honoraria, one for training and other for lecturing. I have no expenses to report. Where is this to be reported Schedule 1 or C?

It doesn't sound like this should be reported under self-employment.  I do have a case where I were as a per diem nurse and I only received a 1099 because my employer sees me as an indep. contractor but I feel I should be an employee.  Is this the case where I should report income under self employed even though I do not believe I am not?

Honoraria are considered taxable income. You will have to pay regular income tax on your total income, and report the amounts on the Form 1040 Schedule C. You should claim any expenses, no matter how minimal, that was related to the job.

If you believe that you are an employee, you can complete a Form SS-8Determination of Worker Status for Purposes of Federal Employment Taxes and Income Tax Withholding. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will make the determination if you are an employee or an independent contractor.

Please note, the IRS will also send the Form SS-8 to your employer to complete before a determination is made.  However, they are prohibited from disclosing who had initiated the inquiry.
