Solved

I sold all the shares in a PTP partnership. Ido not have the basis. Can I just enter sales proceeds minus purchase cost as in a normal stock sale?

No - If you want to accurately calculate your gain/loss on the sale, you have to do more than just enter sales proceeds minus purchase cost as in a normal stock sale.

The following posts give options on how to accurately report the sale. In both cases, you have to do some calculation of the cost basis for purposes of accurately reporting the 1099-B information.
