Question

I sold resticted stock shares that vested in the year. What category should I choose on the tax return?

When asked for what type of investment you sold, you would choose restricted stock units (RSU) or restricted stock awards (RSA). The units typically have a vesting period before you can take ownership of the stock, whereas with the awards you have ownership up-front but may not be able to acquire the stock when the award is granted.
