The interest income from savings bonds is taxable on the federal return, but tax-free on the state tax returns if your state taxes income.

To enter your interest income,

  1. Open your return
  2. In the search box, type 1099-int and select the Jump to link at the top of the search results
  3. Follow the instructions to enter your interest income in Box 3.
