Question

I sold some land in 2022 and have a capital gain. I go to investments, select other (1099S) but the transaction saves as a 1099B in Turbotax. Any suggestions?

ALL those sales go  to the Sch D so don't let how it looks in the program  worry you ... just review the Sch D later.

Alternatively, don't enter the 1099-S (TurboTax wants to treat it as a home sale).

In TurboTax (TT), enter at:
- Federal Taxes tab (Personal in  Home & Business)

 - Wages & Income

Scroll down to:

-Investment Income

-Stocks, mutual funds, Bonds, Other (Real estate is other )

Answer no, when asked if you got a 1099-B. Then follow the interview.  As Critter said, it goes on Schedule D.
