If I live in Hawaii and earn rental property income for a home in NJ, do I declare the rental income on my Hawii tax return?

If you are a legal resident of HI, then you'll report your NJ rental income on your Federal tax return and it will automatically  transfer to your HI tax return.

HI will tax your NJ rental income. If you have to pay NJ tax on the NJ rental income, HI will give you a credit (against HI tax) for what you had to pay to NJ.
