If the roof was replaced but how do we know if it is energy efficient?

This tax credit is for ENERGY STAR certified metal and asphalt roofs with pigmented coatings or cooling granules designed to reduce heat gain. Roof coatings are not eligible. The tax credit is 10 percent of the cost of qualifying materials, up to a maximum of $500 credit. Tax Credit does NOT include the costs of assembly, preparation, or installation.


Requirements:
"Metal roofs with appropriate pigmented coatings" and "asphalt roofs with appropriate cooling granules" that meet ENERGY STAR requirements.
