imported 1099-B with ESPP

I imported a 1099-B with regular equities as well as ESPP.

I saw where you are recommending adding the ESPP sales one at a time, in my case that will be about 80 entries due to differing purchase price. Since the import already has date acquired, date sold,  proceeds and basis, why can't i just change the type to ESPP instead of re-adding a lot of data which is already present? This is what computers are for.

You can leave the import as it is stated if you want. The problem is the cost basis is usually wrong on the Form 1099-B when ESPP shares are involved, as it usually doesn't consider the income from the discount reported on the W-2 form. So, you may need to adjust the cost basis or you will overstate your capital gain income.
