Question

Is my rental of a room in my house considered earned income

I received rent each month totally about 
i made about  $7,600 renting a room in my house
 but I get social security and wondered how do I prove income to get the earned income credit

Rental income is passive (unearned) income. Social Security income is also unearned income.

 

These 2 income categories don't qualify you for the earned income credit.

 

Please read this IRS document on the definition of Earned Income for the Earned Income Credit.
