So I'm filing out my tax return and Missouri is asking me to report wages and other income from other states. I can easily report the wages earned in MD, but it's also asking me to report other income being taxed in MD. In my case, I also have a house rented in MD and have earned rental income from it. My question is: do I put the gross rental income (all that I earned in the year before deductions), the adjusted income (after deducting mortgage interest and property tax and such), or just the portion earned in MD while I lived in MO?

You will enter the portion earned while you were a resident of Missouri.  This is to determine the credit for taxes paid to another state on a resident return.

A part-year resident is treated as a nonresident but may determine his tax as if a resident for the entire year.

As a part-year resident, you may take either the Missouri resident credit or the Missouri income percentage, whichever is to your benefit.
