Question

My capital gains for 2024 on the summary screen says 31000 but turbotax is saying that my capital gains is 57000. Why is turbotax calculating the wrong amount for CG?

I calculated my capital gains by hand and the summary page for 2024 is correct at appx 31000. However, when I complete the gains and dividends section, turbotax is telling me that I have 57000 in capital gains. What's happening?

    On possibility is that you have capital gain distributions reported on your Form 1099-DIV that you are not factoring into your calculations. It would be reported on line 2a of that form.
