First of all, delete the muni bond interest entry and let's start over again.

Go to

1.       Click Federal on the left-hand side menu.

2.       Click Income across the top.

3.       Scroll down to Interest and Dividends and click Show more.

4.       Click Start or Revisit by Interest on 1099-INT.

If it is really tax-exempt to both federal and state, then it should be in box 8.  Click on My form has info in more than just box 1 (this is uncommon).

If it's not reported in box 8, then it's taxable to federal and maybe state.  It all depends on in what box it's reported.  If you feel that they've issued it in error, then contact the issuer.

Same situation. My box 1 has interest. That interest is added to my total interest for the 1040. On my NH state, the total interest is reported but the same interest shows up as tax exempt in line 4 with the other tax exempt interest. This seems to be an error as that amount is not also included in the amount in box 8.
