OKI am a renter. I was filling out the state part and it was asking for a verification letter from the rent that I have paid this year. Where do I get that ?

We do not know what state you are in--you did not say.  But a rent certificate or rent document has to come from the landlord.

Are you par chance in Hawaii? If so, then the landlord is required by state law to provide you with a specific form that shows the amount of rent you actually paid during the tax year, as you need this form for your HI state taxes so you can't get the "renter's credit". I don't recall the form number though.
