Peer-to-Peer Lending outside of the US (Europe)

Hey there,

as I am living in Germany it made sense to invest in German (European) products, so I thought...

I started investing in P2P lending platforms, for example Mintos, to name one of the biggest ones.

Now I am not sure how to file the gained interest next year.

I read an IRS publication (https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p925.pdf) to find out, whether this interest income is considered passive or non passive income.  As far as I understand it is NOT considered passive income, but portfolio income.

So first question: What is it?

The next question: How can I file this income, or which form do I need to file?

Like I said it is an investment outside of the US, so I do not receive any US Tax forms, but only forms listing how much interest I have made in the year and how much money was invested.

I hope that this community can help me 🙂

Thanks  in advance!
