I received RSUs in 2020 in employer stock.  I went thru the interview process to enter my 1099 B, which I did correctly.  However my answers didn't populate correctly, and so I get an error in Federal Review - "1099B Worksheet line 25 column (c) can't be later than date sold".

My inputs are correct.  However, line 1 of the Employee Stock Transaction Worksheet says "Not Employer Stock", even though I said it was in the step-by-step.  I think the problem is that line 27 didn't populate correctly so 27(c), which is date sold, is blank.

All sales data for this lot is correctly input later in that form.  So there is a mistake in translating the step-by-step to the form.  I'd like to report this error but don't see a way to do so.

Any ideas?  Your help is appreciated

@vosmo1 I just got off the phone with a really helpful associate at Turbo Tax.  he had me right click on the date sold field (line 2) and choose "override" which allowed me to type in the correct info.  This also works for the Company Name field (which was displaying wrong on mine as well).  So far so good.  I'll edit the reply if something changes and this doesn't end up working.

If you did not have a sale, remove that transaction from the return.  You should also requested a corrected form 1099 B from your financial institution so as to correct the issue with the IRS, as well.

1099B worksheet contains sale of stock I have not sold.  Will not let me file my return because it says I must have a sold date.  How can I correct the 1099B worksheet?

The discrepancy seems to be in the "Employee Stock Transaction Worksheet". TurboTax does not populate Line 2 ("Date shares sold") automatically. Once I went into that form and used "Override" (in Edit menu) to enter in the Date Sold on Line 2, the error was resolved for Line 25 Box C.

TurboTax is not really clear what it's looking for when it states the error. Line 25 Box C is actually "Date Vested"; I was assuming it was asking me to input the "Date Sold" in the field when the error was raised (which is incorrect).

It depends.  The date sold does need to be entered as well as the vesting date so it makes sense the error was cleared once the date sold was entered. It's unclear if the selling price was entered during the entry process before the error occurred.

If you no longer have any error and the information is correct you can feel confident to file your tax return.  If you have more questions please update here and one of our tax experts will help.

Thank you for the answer from ESinger84. It worked for me to file my 2023 return. However, I don't understand why TurboTax is not fixing such bugs for years and force users to look at the forums to solve bugs? We are paying 100% money to buy software and we expect a bug free software. Sometimes it is tough but when you know a bug for years, you must fix it. Don't give your happy customers a reason to move out.
