Sale of DC Rental Property when resident of VA

Hi,

 

I have a rental property in DC and have been file a D-30 each year.  I am a VA resident and have been the whole time that I have had the DC rental property.  In 2023, the DC rental property was sold and the partnership dissolved.  DC seems to not tax the gain on this sale since I am NOT a DC resident. Is that correct.  That is what a person at DC tax office also indicated.

That is correct.  DC income tax is imposed only on DC residents.  Your capital gain is taxable by your home state of Virginia.
