If the average stay is seven days or less, it is considered a short-term rental and would therefore be reported on a schedule C as self-employment income.

In most cases, Schedule E.

Schedule C only applies if "services" are provided to the tenants, such a maid service, meals, concierge services, etc.

The length of stay has nothing directly to do with which Schedule it goes on.

If you rent for more than fourteen days, then you must decide whether to report it on Schedule C, used when you provide services like breakfast or cleaning, or Schedule E, which is for passive rental income.    See Tip #3
