Sold 1500 shares of LEIFX for $22/share. Bought the fund as CPABX 500 shares for $25/share in 2001. Reinvestment Increased shares. How do I calculate the cost basis.

The cost basis would be what you originally paid ($12,500) plus whatever amounts you reinvested in the fund over the years. 

"Reinvested income" is reported and taxed in the year you received and then reinvested it. Since it is taxed, it is added to your cost basis in the fund shares.
