You should be reporting your rental property income and expenses using the step-by-step interview and Not trying to use Forms mode Schedule E worksheets or entries directly on Schedule E.  The same for a Schedule A.  Unless you are an expert with using the TurboTax program Forms mode there is no reason to enter your tax data in Forms mode.  Over-rides of calculated fields in Forms mode will prevent you from e-filing your tax return and voids the TurboTax Accuracy Guarantee.

To enter Rental Property income and expenses -

    • Click on Federal Taxes
    • Click on Wages and Income
    • Click on I'll choose what I work on
    • Scroll down to Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E), click on the start or update button

To enter itemized deduction on Schedule A -

    • Click on Federal Taxes
    • Click on Deductions and Credit
    • Click on Walk me through everything
