Just cashed out 9,000 in EE and I bonds in 2022. The return was around $7,800. Per TurboTax, Maryland will allow a reduction in taxes owed on the $7,800 if it went towards school expenses. $3000 of the $7,800 went towards my son's education. There was no reduction shown.
