While a stock investment plan may be synonymous with an incentive stock option plan, the best way to determine how your company views or characterizes its stock plan is to review its most recent filings with the Securities & Exchange Commission.  Assuming your company is a public company it will file a Form 10-K (Annual Report) and Form 10-Q (Quarterly Report) with the SEC.  Those reports will have a compensation section and you can review that section to get a better understanding of the nature of your company's employee stock plan.

To access the SEC website, enter SEC.gov into a Google search bar.  The first item in your search list will likely be the SEC's home page.  Rather than clicking on SEC.gov|Home, click on Company Filings which will likely appear under the SEC's home page option.  You will then see a page where you can enter your company's name or ticker symbol and then select the options for annual reports or quarterly reports.
