Question

Where do I include a deduction for a long term capital loss? I have a sizable loss that I have been working down at $3,000 per year?

How do I access the 1099-B form? I have otherwise completed the return.

Here is how to enter a deduction for long term capital loss. You do not need to access the 1099-B to do this.

  • Go to Personal Income
  • Investment Income
  • Capital Loss Carryover, then Start
  • Did you have investment losses you couldn't claim in 2019?, then Yes
  • Do you know your capital loss carryover amounts?
  • Yes, I know my capital loss carryover amounts, then Continue
  • Enter the amounts
