Are you working from a 1099-DIV or 1099-B?

1099-B does not have capital gains distributions, only the proceeds, cost, gain of stocks sold.

1099-DIV has capital gains distributions.  Reported in TT as you fill out the information for 1099-DIV

I have no Form 1099 showing the capital gains distributions.  The distributions to me are from a sale of my practice client names and addresses.

Please follow these steps to enter capital gains distributions reported on Form 1099-DIV:

  1. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1099-DIV”
  2. Click on “Jump to 1099-DIV”

Please see Where do I enter a capital gain or loss? for additional information.
