Why does the turbo tax program change the number from what I enter on my rental real estate expenses?

    In the property review section, if you entered a percentage of business use and asked the program to do the math, it will change the numbers for you.

     

    Follow these steps to change the percentage or for you to enter the correct amounts:

    1. Return to rental property summary
    2. Edit the property profile
    3. Continue to Let Us Calculate Your Expense Deductions, select NO - this will allow you to do the math and enter the deductions
    4. continue through program
    5. Edit expenses
    6. enter the correct amounts
