Amended Dependent and Stimulus Check

When I filed my taxes back in February, I said I could not be claimed as a Dependent. I asked my Dad if he claimed me on his taxes. He said he did not claim me but alas he did. He went back into his taxes, two weeks ago, and amended it because I cannot be claimed and our taxes did not match. You cannot file amendments online and I know the IRS is not currently processing paper files. Will this amendment allow me to receive a covid-19 stimulus check or will it be too late?

As long as you otherwise qualify for the stimulus, you will receive it. The IRS is sending these payments out in waves. If the amended return is not processed by the time the IRS sends out the last wave in 2020, all is not lost, though. If you don't receive the stimulus payment in 2020, you can always receive it as a credit on your 2020 return in 2021. The stimulus is actually an ADVANCE on a credit on your 2020 return.
