Yes. You can file a tax return if your only income is from Social Security. However, you will not get a refund, unless you did not receive one or both of the stimulus payments.

 

Social Security benefits are not taxable if you have no other income.

 

If you did not get the stimulus payments, you can file a return to receive your recovery rebate credit (your stimulus money).
