Coronavirus stimulus with significantly different 2018 and 2019 income
Hello, I am wondering how/if the coronavirus stimulus amount will be adjusted if it is based on the 2018 tax return (because of a delay in filing the 2019 return) but later it turns out the 2019 information is significantly different.
Example 1: I have income in 2018 of $100,000 (my 2019 information is not available), so I am not eligible for the stimulus, so I do not get anything. I have income in 2019 of $80,000 so it turns out I actually was eligible - will I get the money once my 2019 is filed later in the year to reflect my updated income information?
Example 2: I have income in 2018 of $80,000 (my 2019 information is not available), so I am eligible for a reduced amount of the stimulus and I get the money. I have income in 2019 of $100,000 so it actually turns out I was not eligible. What will happen once the 2019 return is filed (so my eligibility is updated to not be eligible but I already got the money)?
Example 3: I have income in 2019 of $80,000 (my 2019 information is not available), so I am eligible for a reduced amount of the stimulus and I get the money. I have income in 2019 of $50,000, so it actually turns out I should have received the full amount of the stimulus. Will I get the additional amount once my 2019 return is filed?
