Question

Do college students/dependents qualify for the $600 in unemployment?

Recently, everyone at my job was furloughed and placed on unemployment. Someone found an article saying college students/dependents werent qualified for the $600 much like the $1200 in the stimulus check. I had one friend even denied the $600. I had another friend say his sister received the $600 and she's a college student and a dependent. There's many conflicting views and does anyone know the actual accurate answer? Help!

Sorry---but that is not a tax question.  You are asking a question that is outside the realm of the tax questions we answer in this tax return user forum.  My suggestion?  Apply for unemployment in your state and see what happens.  I have read nothing whatsoever about the unemployment funds being restricted  or withheld from college students.
