Financial Dependency Stimulus Question

Hello!!

I was just looking for some clarification on IF I could receive a stimulus check from the government. I did e-file for 2018 and 2019 already and I marked the box on my 2019 taxes on the standard deduction line that some can claim: "You as a dependent." I do live with my parents still and made under the required amount to receive $1200 dollars, HOWEVER, I am financially independent enough that they do not claim me as a dependent on their taxes, even though I marked the box that someone CAN. Will I still receive a stimulus check having marked that box?

No, if you can be claimed as a dependent then you will not receive the Stimulus payment. Please see Who can I claim as my dependent? for details.

If your parents cannot claim you as a dependent then you will have to amend your tax return. Please see How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filedThe IRS will only accept amended returns via mail. Please be aware that the processing usually takes more than 12 weeks.
