My husband did our taxes for the last 50 years, now I'm trying to figure it out. This is my first time filing taxes & I'm not sure how to claim the stimulus. My question is if I hire a tax expert will they help with this? This is why I would hire one. Thank you for your help.

There are no stimulus payment for tax year 2023, nor were there any stimulus payment for tax year 2022.

The Economic Impact Payments (stimulus) were only on the 2020 and 2021 tax returns.

Go to your IRS tax account to see if the payments were sent to you in 2020 and 2021 - https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

If you were being claimed as a dependent on the 2020 and 2021 tax returns you were not eligible for the stimulus payments.

If you were not a dependent and filed the 2020 and 2021 tax returns without completing the Recovery Rebate Credit section of the tax return or did not complete it correctly you will have to amend the 2020 and 2021 tax returns.

Before that you need to check your tax account on the IRS website to see if the IRS sent the Economic Impact Payments to you - https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

If the payments were sent then you have to contact the IRS for assistance.
