I have a 1099 – R for a Roth distribution. I meet the age requirement and the five year rule requirement. For the federal taxes, TT correctly determines that I don’t owe tax on the income. But for the Massachusetts state tax, it is showing up as taxable. How can I force TurboTax to avoid state tax on this income.?

In the Massachusetts state section, look for the screen below and you can indicate zero (0) is taxable. See TIR 98-2.
