Form 1099-R is used to report the distribution of retirement benefits such as pensions, annuities or other retirement plans.

If you are unable to import your 1099R, please try these instructions to type it yourself:

    1. Login to your TurboTax Account
    2. Click "Take Me To My Return"
    3. Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
    4. Scroll down and click "Start or Edit/Add" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
    5. Answer "Yes" to the question "Did You Have Any of These Types of Income?"
    6. Click "I'll Type it Myself"
    7. Choose "Form 1099-R, Withdrawal of Money from 401(k) Retirement Plans, Pensions, IRAs, etc."
    8. Click "Continue" and enter the information from your 1099-R

As a divorced spouse I receive my court order 1099-R from my former spouse. But block 2a says "unknown". What should I enter?

Just leave it blank, don't enter anything to the field. The taxable amount will be determined based on the distribution codes and other factors.
