Question

1099-R and QCD

I have entered total and taxable amounts on a 1099-R since there were QCDs. Only the total amount shows up on the 1040, while the taxable amount shows up nowhere on the 1040. How do I fix this?

It's hard to say with limited information.  You need to return to the 1099-R entry section in the program.  Verify that all of your entries are correct.  Then, go through all the questions after the 1099-R entry is complete.  Verify that all the answers to the questions are correct.

Thanks. I went so far as to re-create the 1099-R (after the deleting the first one). The Gross Distribution from 1099-R Line 1 shows up on 1040 Line 4b (Taxable Amount). The Taxable Amount from 1099-R Line 2a does not show up on the 1040.

Did you enter in the follow up questions the amount that went to charity? What is the code in box 7?
