My 1099-R shows the state tax withheld in box 14 as $2500. However, there is nothing in box 16. According to the 1099-R instructions on the back of the form it states that box 16 May show the part of the distribution that was subject to state tax. It doesn’t seem to indicate it must be filled out. Turbo tax says that box 16 should not be less than the state tax withheld. How do I correct this problem that occurs in TurboTax?
