1099R received in NY but earned in TN

My husband taught in TN last year but this summer we moved to NY. He could not roll over his retirement plan so he cashed it out. On our NY state return, it says, "Enter any federal income received while you were a resident of NY state." We received the money while living in NY but it was only earned in TN. Do I report the income as NY Resident Income?

Yes, you must report your husband's "TN" pension on your NY resident (or part-year resident) tax return if you received it while a NY resident.

Retirement income is taxed by your state of residence at the time you receive it. It makes no difference where you worked to qualify for the pension.
