I just completed my fed and Alabama state taxes on TurboTax but it didn’t give me the 6000 for me and my wife (12000 deduction)? On my state taxes.

Were you and your wife both age 65 or older on December 31. What kind of retirement income did you have? To be eligible for the $6,000 exclusion of taxable retirement income you must be age 65 or older. If you have retirement income taxable to Alabama, and you were age 65 or older, the deduction would be made on Schedule RS line 10, reducing the amount that is reported on Form 40, page 2, Part 1, Line 4.
