Question

Alaska PFD for a couple does not work? First I enter for man then wife but when I return to re-edit both are for wife. Persistent error. Any work around?

I tried it in the CD/Download TurboTax software and did not have the problem. The two 1099-MISC forms stayed assigned to the person I entered each one for. I have not seen any other complaints about this.

Check the My Info section and make sure that your filing status is married filing jointly.

Make sure you are following the instructions in the following FAQ.

Where do I enter my 2021 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (Alaska PFD)?

Note: In that FAQ, the amount that it says to enter in box 3 is wrong. Enter the amount from box 3 of the 1099-MISC that you received. The Alaska PFD for 2021 is 1114.

Try deleting both 1099-MISC forms and entering them again.

If you still have the problem, I don't think it really matters. The tax return does not show the individual amount for each person. It only shows the total amount. As long as the total on Schedule 1 line 8f is correct, it doesn't matter if TurboTax shows part of it for the wrong person. So the workaround is to ignore the error as long as Schedule 1 line 8f has the correct total of the two payments.
