I made contributions to a registered retirement savings plan in Canada,  Can I use the contributions as a deductible expense in my 1040 in which I reported pension income from Canada.

If you reported Canadian pension income, you cannot claim your RRSP contributions as a deduction from the income.

You cannot deduct the contributions from your Canadian wages before reporting the wages on the US tax return.
