Question

At review, I"m receiving an error message that I need to put an amount in box16. Ohio Box 16 on retirement 1099R is blank. Why is this occurring this year?

    To clarify, is there anything reported in Box 14 or Box 15?

    Yes. there are amounts in blocks 14 and15.

    Enter the amount reported in box 1 of your Form 1099-R for the state distribution amount box 16.  This should clear the error condition without affecting your tax return.
