California non-resident status

I plan to live abroad. I do have a CA driver license and a rental house. Am i considered a Non-resident for CA?

    You will be considered a California resident if it remains your domicile.  Please see Guidelines for Determining Resident Status (FTB Publication 1031).

     

    It is good that you are planning ahead because California is very stringent, and unfortunately especially for people who move out of the U.S. it is very difficult to PROVE you are a nonresident retroactively.
