Can I attach a spreadsheet instead of using the statement for QCDs? Also, can I insert an explanation where there is no explanation requested by TT?

Is there a way to get to a real turbotax employee by phone? My questions are not about taxes. They are about using turbotax.

Why do you need to include a statement about QCDs?  You just enter the 1099R forms.  Then it will ask how much was the QCD.   You don't need to enter anything about the QCD like who it was for.  A QCD will reduce the taxable amount on 1040 line 4b with the word QCD by it.  You do NOT enter the QCDs again under Deductions  Charity.

To qualify as a QCD, the distribution must have taken place DIRECTLY from the account trustee to the charity. It's ok for them to send you a check made out to the Charity that you then mail to the Charity. Withdrawing funds and then making your own contribution to a charity DOES NOT qualify as a QCD. If that was done, then you have a potentially taxable distribution and a potentially deductible charitable contribution.

You cannot "attach" stuff to an e-filed return.   If the IRS wants information that is not included with the e-file they ask you for it by sending you a letter requesting the information.

Phone support is not provided with the Free Edition.  If you are using a paid version of the software or if you purchased PLUS you can get phone support when customer support is there.  Otherwise, post your question here and someone will try to help.
