Question

Can I claim this? No Box 5 is displayed on My DFAS-CL 1099R form. $761 was deducted from my Mil retirement pay for FEDVIP supplementary insurance for Dental and Vision.

    With no box 5, you will have to confirm with the issuer of the 1099-R that $761 was actually deducted from the pension distribution. If yes, was $761 subtracted from the box 1 or box 2a amount? If no, then you will have to manually enter this $761 as a medical deduction on Schedule A.
