Question

Can I get back into my turbo tax to correct my income from social security. I did not see a line to enter it or my stimulus amount?

Did you submit your return?

If you already filed your return, you need to amend it to make any correction.

If you need to amend your 2020 return you must wait until the IRS either accepts or rejects your return.

If the IRS rejects your return, you can make the changes and re-submit your return.

If the IRS accepts your return, you have to wait until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. Then you can prepare an amended tax return. How to I amend my 2020 return

To edit the Social Security Income:

  • Select Federal from the left menu
  • Go to Wages and Income then Income and Expenses.
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • Select Edit next to Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)

If you didn't e-file or mail your return, follow the steps below to reopen it:

  • Login to your account
  • Go to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents."
  • Click on  SHOW to expand that section.
  • Under 2020, look for a link "Add a State" and click. (that doesn't really add one; that's just to open the return back up.)
  • Once the return is open, you can resume working on your return to make any corrections
